Days 71-78: Durban, South Africa

Well.. not a great deal has happened other than Greyhounding it to Pretoria to get my Korean visa, then flying out of Johannesburg, making a quick stop (10 hours) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, then finally arriving at Incheon, South Korea.

I saw the Japanese Gardens in Durban... met more people and ate more... got some sweet little gifts.

Day 70: Durban, South Africa: Hshlinga

We went to a game reserve where we saw a bunch of zebra, impala, nyalha, monitor lizards, elephants, warthogs, tortoises, dung beetles, and birds.  No giraffes or rhinos... but that's okay!

Day 69: Durban, South Africa: Saint Lucia

Took a drive north along the coast to Saint Lucia, an estuary at the Indian Ocean.  We took a little cruise and saw a ton of hippos and some crocs and monitor lizards and birds.  Pretty cool!

Day 68: Durban, South Africa: Brandan's B-Day

Went to a church 21st b-day party.  The MC made it known that I traveled across the world for it.  L and I lit the candles on the cake for Brandan.  I'm a hard-working white man, unlike the others in SA (not my words).

Day 67: Durban, South Africa: Lions

We went to a Lion reserve where we played w/some elephants, cows, antelope (?), zebra, and lions!  There was Howick Falls... And we went to the Valley of 1000 Hills, which had a lot of lovely scenery.

Day 66: Durban, South Africa: Cricket!

Hah... L's dad took us to a cricket match.  It was a short one (20 overs; only like 3hr).  It's a lot simpler than I thought.  Pretty funny...

Day 63: Durban, South Africa: Stadium

Took a cable car over the arch of Durban's big, new stadium.  Pretty awesome!  Nice view...  Oh, and I ate a bunny.  It's a bread bowl full of curry.  Oh, and we got massages.  Hah!

Day 62: Durban, South Africa: ?

Hung out w/L's gramma.

Day 60: Durban, South Africa: CHURCH

930AM: What an ungodly hour to be up, right? WRONG. That's church-time!! Yeah, L's mom's SDA, so we went to church for a few hours and met all of these people. Pretty funny.

1PM: Went w/L's dad to a [Hindu] prayer at his mom's house. ANOTHER 5 HOURS. Yeah, getting so religious today.

8PM: We were late about an hour to L's b-day dinner, but...! it was a lot of fun. And we had leftovers. And we fell asleep right when we got home. The End.

Day 55: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Markets and Museums

So I've been going to all these markets which have been pretty cool since it's Tet (Lunar New Year). All the family's are out and about. AND there's this huge flower market outside my door, which may be to blame for my horrible horrible allergies right now. It's bad. I've just been buying all kinds of random souvenirs... getting my shoes fixed... buying decent sandals... washing everything... some jackets/vests/shirts/pants... yup.

Hired a horrible moto driver for a couple hours and saw the Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Emerald Pagoda, China Town, and some other pagodas. I called the police and was about to call the embassy, cuz this guy wanted me to pay him $50/hr for driving. Hah! Yeah, right! (I ended up paying him $25/hr just to end it. Vietnam is full of swindlers!)

6PM: I leave Asia for Africa. Maybe until the 20th? Who knows. PS: SGN airport sucks horribly. BKK... a little better. 25hr of flying. Woo!!..... SGN -> BKK -> Dubai -> Joburg -> Durban.... At least L lives like 5min from the airport... I bet she's cooking for me as we speak..... or I speak. Whatever.

Day 54: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Cu Chi Cu!

830AM: Took a bus to the Cu Chi Tunnels which the Vietnamese guerrillas dug to fight the foreign occupants. They were super tiny (even I couldn't fit through), but we walked through some that were reasonably widened. There was a huge network of them underground, and we saw a lot of the guerrilla traps that they used.

Later, we went to the War Remnants Museum to see pics and artifacts about Agent Orange and all that stuff. ...Informative.
