Day 24: Chiang Mai, Thailand: New Year's!

Checked out some temples and whatever.

5pm: Got a flight to Chiang Mai.  It's basically the northernmost city before the border w/Laos.

7pm: Got to the hostel.  It's pretty awesome!  Spicy Thai.... is its name.  We did some quick partying and went downtown to see the millions of people out partying!  We lit some chinese lanterns that flew into the sky with 1000s of others.  The black was dotted with yellow, almost like stars.

Day 23: Bangkok, Thailand: Again!

9am: Got a taxi to Phuket Airport and flew BACK to BKK.  I know, I know.  WTF. 

I got a dress for my lovely Laurelle, and... that's about it.  But I spent some time watching Kick-Ass and Inglourious Basterds. 

Day 22: Phuket, Thailand: ANOTHER BEACH

noon: Andrea and I went to the north part of town.  We rented a room in this Sea Side Cottage... some bamboo and palm frond huts on this nice secluded beach.  1,000THB.

Day 21: Phuket, Thailand: Confusion

830am: We waited nearly an hour to get picked up to get on a bus to get on a boat to go to Koh Phi Phi, another island.  When we got there, we found out that the last boat leaving was at 230pm.  So I took it after chilling.

7pm: 200THB to take a motorbike to a hostel WHICH WAS AWESOME.  I mean, the hostel.  The bike ride was alright and kinda scary.

Day 20: Ao Nang, Thailand: Kayaking!

830am: Got in a minivan and went to a giant lake to do some kayaking!  There were millions of crabs getting ready to mate.  We went with a buncha other people, and we went through water-filled canyon, and saw some cool birds and stuff.  We went through a real nice mangrove forest, too. 

5pm: We checked out some trails and found a lovely beach that we hadn't been to before.  We also saw a shit-load of monkeys (they're all over this island actually).  I'm waiting for someone to get attacked by one.  People are really dumb and always feed them.  Idiots.

Tomorrow: Koh Phi Phi!  Then maybe Phuket and a quick stop in Bangkok to get some souvenirs?

Day 19: Ao Nang, Thailand: Snorkeling!

9am: We went on a tour of 4 different islands off the Andaman Coast in a longtail boat with a few other people.  We went snorkeling and saw all kinds of urchins, fish, and JELLYFISH.  Ooh, scary!  Our tour guide picked up an urchin to show us AND a JELLYFISH!!  Crazy, huh?  We went to all of these beautiful beaches and all that.  Walked across some sand landbridges between islands during low tide.  All good!

Day 18: Ao Nang, Thailand: The OTHER Coast

10am: After about 12h of taxi, wait, boat, wait, taxi, wait, bus we got to our BUNGALOW.  The Laughing Gecko.  There's this thing where every place of accomodation is [Adjective] [Animal].  The Little Bird.  The Jolly Frog.  Etc.  Daria and I got a room for 400THB.  Not bad!!  They're little bamboo huts!  :P

Checked out some nice beaches.  And tried not getting sunburnt.  :(  My delicate snow white skin!  Oh nooooes!

Day 17: Koh Phangan, Thailand: Beach

Some exploring and climbing on the beach w/Daria and Josh, et al.

6pm: The bungalow owners were nice enough to give us a ride to the next town over where we met some other travelers and ate a night market.

10pm: Boat to Krabi w/Daria!

Day 16: Koh Phangan, Thailand: Other Side of the Island

noon: Took a taxi ride with Joshua (24, England) to the north part of the island, to a place called Haad Khom near Ao Chaloklum.  It's a little bungalow on the beach (200THB/night) w/a private bathroom and mosquito nets!  Today was a kinda strangely cool and sprinkly day.  

3pm: Aaron (England), Josh, and I took maybe a 5k hike up into the jungle to this peak called Khao Ko.  At the very top of the mountain, after trekking through tons of coconut trees, we started to hear some Bob Marley in the distance... We get up there and there's this tiny shack with drinks and reggae.   There was a pretty sweet view of the island, and we could see all the way to Koh Tao, the next island.  

910pm: And I finally met up with Daria again!  We ended up staying at bungalows on the same beach.  

Day 15: Koh Phangan, Thailand: More Sleeping

Got back to my room at around 8am, so... just taking a break! Boat to another island tomorrow?
